I was thrilled this week to welcome select guests to a showcase of the iconic modern Light Box House in Lido Shores, with remarks by the home's award-winning architect Jonathan Parks as well as by original Sarasota School of Architecture member Carl Abbott. It was a special honor to hear these two distinguished experts offer perspective on design and on the history and culture of Lidos Shores, where the concentration of midcentury modern estates has drawn global attention.
The Light Box House has been featured in numerous publications. Its name reflects the brilliant use of windows and natural light to connect the interior to the environment outside, particularly to a central pool that serves as a focal point for both recreation and relaxation. While the aesthetic honors many precepts of the Sarasota School of Architecture, this home's more recent construction offers elevation, impact-rated materials, and modern integrations that offer even greater luxury.
