The first thing on our minds lately has been Hurricane Ian and how the storm affected our community and our neighbors where there was more significant damage. Storms of this magnitude are rare on the Gulf Coast, and we're fortunate that Sarasota was spared the hardest impact and is well equipped with sound infrastructure and resources. We're also grateful that our residents heeded the municipal leaders who encouraged evacuation and that personal safety was the top priority of everyone.
Recovery is well underway, but we're mindful of the many people who have lost much and who still need a lot of help. Sotheby's International Realty and REALTORS nationwide have long been committed to aiding communities affected by disaster. Right now, Premier Sotheby's International Realty is leading efforts to collect supplies with multiple drop-off locations for relief donations.
Through October 14th, supplies may be dropped off at six different locations. The items most needed are personal health and toiletry items, pillows, blankets, and non-perishable pet food supplies. There are many other organizations welcoming donations and help, including the Collier County Foundation, the Fort Myers Beach Community Foundation, The Salvation Army, and The United Way.
